Welcome to 'Wild soundscapes:Immersive Field Recordings in nature'. A few minutes from the sea, in my city, I can find myself immersed in nature. Unfortunately, however, by traveling a short distance, the risk is that of recording human presence. In this context for example, I am too close to the railway, a church and some houses with the dog. In any case, for testing the microphone or simply for having a new experience, it is equally good. Today we bring home the close sound of the jay.
Tutto cambia! Imagine that you are in an arid place, surrounded by dry bushes. The rustle of the wind envelops you, bringing with it the delicate sound of moving leaves. In the distance, you can hear a low noise, as if the earth itself is whispering its secrets, carrying the essence of these arid environments with it and transporting you to distant places." Then the rain comes and everything changes…
In this video i tested a 3d microphone made of fir wood and with silicone ears applied to it. I would like to thank lorenzi Guitar for the idea of building the creative head shaped structure. As location of my video, i chose a very crowded place in my town,Ventimiglia, a renowned Street Market that attracts a lot of tourists,in particular from the near France. On this particular occasion, I decided to use the Hollyland lark 150 as my microphone capsules;they have been managed wirelessly using the zoom f3 field recorder (of course all kind of microphone capsules can be applied to the head. It Is possible to perceive a three-dimensional sound throughout headphones listening. I Wish you all a good listen! I am pleased to attach the link of Lorenzo Guitar for those who would like to discover and enjoy his amazing lutherie works as well as his electric guitars which have been played by Rick..and many more
I have been contacted by a dear friend of mine who is a musician to realise a project together. He's had the idea to create and construct a multifunctional musical instrument in wood, which can be played from all sides; a percussion with a profound sound and at the same time shrill and resonant. It has taken him a lot of time and energy to find, first of all, a sound balance using different woods with thickness and shapes, managing to personalize the sound. Together we have decided to find a place which could enhance in a natural way, the sound of the instrument, so we have decided to go inside a church where already in the past I had registered other musical instruments; a really incredible place, immersed in nature and, above all, far away from unwanted noise such as traffic. For the recording I have decided to use a very minimal setup but at the same time efficient; two omnidirectional microphones and two contact microphones. The post-production sound has not undergone any modification and the reverberation the you can hear is natural. Finally, in my studio I have created a synchronized audio track of the percussion session.
A simple family memory today came with me in the mountains. Binoculars, to browse through the branches in search of some birds! What really interests me is capturing sound and this is a means .. I find myself this time in the hinterland on the Ligurian border, between Italy and France, a few kilometers from the city centre. A few planes, a few cars, a few chainsaws, but all in all I was quite hidden from the valley. I alternated stereophonic recordings with the dodotronic dish microphones with mono recordings with the sennheiser mkh416, to have different material to work with. Happy listening!
Hollyland Lark150 Wireless microphone system tested. Two small and light omnidirectional microphones. I recorded in a very windy weather situation to understand the quality of the microphone capsules. In addition to the sponge windproof, I added two with the classic fur because the wind was very strong. The microphone support as seen in the video is a seasoned piece of wood to which I have connected the wireless system and the capsule. so with this system I was able to monitor from inside my house. This microphone is normally used for interviews.
Any objects that have mechanical movement are great for contact microphones. In this video entitled The noise game, I attack the microphones where there is friction of gears and beyond. Two Schertler UNI-P48 close together to play with EQ and stereophony. The captured sound will be processed and cleaned later. To integrate the sound I used a sennheiser mkh416 in the studio with various metal objects to complete the sound and sync with the images. When I make these videos that I share pleasantly on my You Tube channel, I archive a part of the captured sounds to create sound libraries that will have various fields of use..
It never disappoints me to listen to nature with the microphone dish. In this context I kept it close to the sound source. The sound of water drops in a very humid wall with lots of moss. When you carefully observe any detail in nature, it reserves surprises. An explosion of colors, smells, and sounds that make everything very poetic and magical. In this clip I waited for darkness to arrive to have less chance of ruining the recordings due to the presence of the man who, at a certain time, especially in this period that is quite cold, perhaps prefers to stay warm at home ..
This time I found myself on Lake Como for a business visit. I had with me the zoom f3 and a microphone dpa 4099 (I use it with the classical guitar and the oud). I know very well that it is not the right microphone for this type of listening, but in the absence of anything else, I tried to record . I was not aware of this event otherwise I would have brought another type of microphone. In any case it is always a great microphone. I had to work a lot with cubase equalizers, like frequency! I also decided to create a small clip especially because the lake is certainly beautiful to see even on a very crowded and noisy day.
I decided to record the sea with the Aquarian H2a hydrophone and at the same time with the Sennheiser mkh 416 (directed towards the hydrophone), so I made a stereo record. Then I loaded the sounds with separate channels into Cubase 12pro to be able to work on the tracks independently. In this video the audio of the Aquarian H2a is always heard. Sennheiser is deactivated only when the image of the video showed the microphone in the sea. I then tried to put some effects (REVence) and I got interesting sounds!
Excursion into the wild with my Parabolic Microphones DODOTRONIC and ZOOM F3 RECORDER. I was lucky again this summer! I found so many sounds of insects and birds. With this new setup, I can move easily through the trees. the setup is light and the sound is amazing!
Reverse Crusher with two contact microphones: from raw sound to sound effect. Contact microphone: Schertler Basik Right Unknown LEFT ZOOM F3
I created a soundscape made of buzz of people, low frequencies of the train (a sound soiled by electrical interference). I recorded the sound at 96kHz and 32 Bit Recorder: Zoom f3 Microphone: Sennheiser mkh416
A SHORT VIDEO OF FIELD RECORDING (TRAIN AND TRAFFIC) IN A CITY AREA WHERE THE SOUNDS OF THE TRAIN MIX WITH THE SOUNDS OF TRAFFIC. RECORDINGS WERE MADE WITH THE RODE NTG4 PLUS AND THE DODOTRONIC PARABOLIC MICROPHONES, BOTH CONNECTED TO THE TASCAM DR44WL, AT DIFFERENT TIMES.
Sunday 13 March 2022.(FIELD RECORDING NATURE). During a snowfall in the Ligurian Alps (Gouta), I made an environmental recording with the Dodotronic Parabolic microphone. The snow that was not very cold and therefore heavy and noisy was the dominant tonic of this place, fortunately not very populated that day. The presence of man almost non-existent. This allowed me to recording the sound for long periods. To protect the equipment, I positioned myself under a tree and under the roof of the trunk of the car.
After a good friend of mine lent me this pair of fantastic microphones (audio-technica at3032), I decided to create a video of field recording in the traffic of the city near my house. The recorder I used is the Tascam dr44wl. I limited myself to putting a windscreen in front of the microphones because the wind was almost absent. In post production I didn't equalize the sound. I left it flat to really hear the original sound of these omnidirectional microphones. I placed them parallel at a distance of 60 centimeters.
nature sound recording with parabolic microphone DODOTRONIC and TASCAM DR44WL. I Checked the volume with the Dr Control App by Tascam Field Recording a few kilometers from the sea in a sound environment far from human presence ..
In this new adventure I have decided to combine the sounds of nature with artificial sounds in the same song. Indeed in this mystical landscape the sounds of birds and the sounds of cars alternate. the sounds of nature were recorded at sunrise a few kilometers from the place of the video, away from traffic with my Dodotronic parabolic microphone, connected to the Tascam dr44wl. The video was recorded with the Sony Alpha 7iii. Audio editing with cubase pro 11. Video editing with final cut pro. A mystical experience in a fascinating place
individually recorded the sound of stone, coarse salt, fine salt, balloon, broken glass, toolbox. then with cubase pro11 I worked on every single sound with the internal cubase plug ins (reverb, limiter etc ..), with RETROLOGUE 2 i created a riser Finally I synchronized and boom!
